By High-Speed Rail

G trains stop at Huangshan North (黄山北站) — about 1½ hours from Hangzhou and three from Shanghai — where direct scenic buses meet arrivals for the roughly one-hour, ¥30 run to Tangkou; a taxi covers it in around 50 minutes.

By Coach

Direct coaches from Hangzhou, Shanghai and cities across Anhui reach Tangkou town.

Cable Cars

Four lines — Yungu (back mountain), Taiping (north), Yuping (front) and the new East Sea line at the East Gate (since Jun 2026) — trading hours of stairs for minutes in the air.

With a Tour

Sunrise packages from ¥588 (two days, summit hotel) bundle logistics smartly.

By Air

Huangshan Tunxi International Airport (TXN), about 5 km west of Tunxi city centre, fields a short list of domestic routes; airport buses and taxis reach Tangkou in about an hour.

Getting Around

On the summit everything is footpaths and staircases; Hongcun and Xidi villages pair naturally as the valley counterpoint on day three.
