Huangshan punishes improvisation — cable car times, hotel beds and the 15:00 trail cutoff all need planning. These notes blend official guidance with Mafengwo travelers' experience.

What to See
Bright Summit
The 1,860 m hub where front and back mountains meet — sunrise and sunset both work from here.
Refreshing & Lion Terraces
The North Sea viewpoints for cloud seas over the valley — the classic tripod spots.
Begin-to-Believe Peak
The peak that finally makes visitors 'begin to believe' the paintings — pines on spires over cloud.
Monkey Watching the Sea
The rock shaped like a gazing monkey — the mountain's most characterful stone.
Dispersing Clouds Pavilion
The West Sea balcony — if cloud sea is on, this is the front row.
Hot Springs at the Foot
The fourth Wonder — the springs below Ciguang Pavilion for the after-mountain soak.

Tips from Real Travelers
Food & Drink
Summit Hotel Meals
Hot noodles and set meals at mountain-top hotels — expensive by weight, reasonable by altitude.
Tangkou Town Eats
Anhui classics at base-town prices — stinky mandarin fish and bamboo dishes before or after the climb.
Huangshan Biscuit (黄山烧饼)
The 'crab-shell' shaobing — a palm-size flaky puff of preserved vegetable and pork fresh from the charcoal oven, ¥5–8 apiece; buy them hot in Tangkou before the climb or from the old-line bakeries on Tunxi Old Street, and pocket a bag for the trail.
Mountain Snacks
Tea eggs, cured sausage and steamed buns on the trail — carried up so you don't have to carry much.
