Yulong (Jade Dragon) Snow Mountain

丽江市玉龙雪山景区·LiJiang, Yunnan·Southwest China

The mountain rewards planners. Decide first whether your day is Glacier Park or the gentler meadows, book that ropeway the instant presale opens, then let the lakes, the meadows and the show arrange themselves around the ticket you hold.

Suggested Itinerary

  1. The Classic Summit Day
Dawn at Ganhaizi for sunrise gold → visitor center by 08:00 → big ropeway to Glacier Park, boardwalk to the 4,680-m marker → Blue Moon Valley in midday light → Impression Lijiang if showtimes align → back to the Old Town for dinner.
  2. The Gentle Altitude Day
Spruce Meadow ropeway through prime forest → meadow stroll facing the peak → downhill walk or e-cart to Blue Moon Valley → Ganhaizi meadow and viewing deck → home at your own pace — ideal with kids and seniors.
  3. The Panorama Day
Yak Meadow ropeway first for the quietest, widest thirteen-peak panorama → Blue Moon Valley before the crowds peak → long lunch at Ganhaizi → afternoon show, or Baisha village on the way home.
  4. Two Days, Mountain & Villages
Day 1 the classic summit day; Day 2 the sightseeing train in from the Baisha visitor center, Blue Moon Valley unhurried, then Baisha's Naxi murals and an Old Town evening.

What to See

1

The 4,680-m Stone Marker

The boardwalk's last step beside living ice — 174 m of stairs above the ropeway station; take them like a stroll and they hand you the view of the trip.

2

Yuyi & Mirror Lakes

Blue Moon Valley's signature pair — the lake of jade liquid and the mirror pond, holding the snow peak upside down on calm mornings.

3

The Blue Cascades

White travertine waterfalls churning between the lakes — the valley's most-photographed corner once the sun is high.

4

Sunrise Gold at Ganhaizi

The meadow's viewing deck is the front-row seat for 日照金山 — the dawn light that gilds Shanzidou while the valley below is still blue.

5

Spruce Meadow's Green Room

A ring of ancient spruce framing the snow wall — Naxi legend calls the meadow the doorway to the lovers' 'Third Kingdom'.

6

Impression Lijiang

Horse drums, songs and hundreds of local performers in the open-air amphitheater at 3,100 m — no roof, no walls, just the peak as backdrop.

Tips from Real Travelers

Food & Drink

Cured Pork Rib Hotpot (腊排骨火锅)

Lijiang's signature winter warmer — salt-cured ribs in peppery broth, the perfect après-mountain dinner.

Chickpea Jelly (鸡豆凉粉)

A cool Naxi street snack of firm green-black jelly with chili and vinegar — balm after a day of thin, bright air.

Naxi Grilled Fish (纳西烤鱼)

Whole river fish grilled crisp and lacquered with local spices — order it in the Old Town's wood-beamed kitchens.

Wild Mushroom Hotpot (野生菌火锅)

When the summer rains come, Yunnan's matsutake and porcini take over the pot — ask what the season brought in.
