Recommended walking route around Kunming Lake

By Metro

Line 4 to Beigongmen (exit D) for the North Palace Gate, or to Xiyuan (exit C) for the East Palace Gate — both a short walk away.

By Bus

Routes 303, 332, 346, 384, 394, 563 and 584 stop at the gates; routes 469 and 539 serve the West Palace Gate.

By Taxi or Car

About 40 minutes from central Beijing outside rush hour; gate car parks are small — arrive before 8:00 or use park-and-ride.

By Air or Rail

From Capital or Daxing airports, allow 60–90 minutes; from Beijing North or Qinghe stations the garden is a short taxi or Line 4 ride.

By Sightseeing Tram

The Xijiao Line tram links Bagou (transfer from Line 10) with the garden's West Gate for ¥3–4, running every 10–12 minutes, then continues to the Botanical Garden and Fragrant Hills.

Getting Around

The park is explored on foot; shuttles and lake ferries connect the main shores in season. Wheelchair routes follow the lakeside promenade; the hill paths involve steps.
